Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser. Your images are read from your device, processed in memory and saved straight back to it. They are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Which format should I choose?

JPG works everywhere and suits photos. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so it suits screenshots, logos and graphics. WebP makes files about 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality, supports transparency and works in all modern browsers, which makes it a good choice for websites.

Can I convert to AVIF?

Not yet. AVIF images can be converted to JPG, PNG or WebP if your browser can open them, which all current major browsers can. Saving as AVIF would need a much larger encoder download, so it isn’t offered.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG can’t store it, so transparent areas are filled with white when you convert to JPG.

Does it remove GPS location and other metadata?

Yes, by default. Photos often carry hidden EXIF data such as the GPS location where they were taken, the date and the camera or phone model. “Remove metadata” is on unless you turn it off, so the images you share don’t reveal where you were. Colours are kept looking the same: re-encoded images are converted to standard sRGB, and files kept in their original form keep their colour profile.

Can I process many images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like, up to 50 MB each and 500 MB in total. Each one gets its own result and download link, and “Download all” saves them together as a ZIP file.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because all the work happens on your own device, there are no servers to pay for.
