Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser. Your images are read from your device, processed in memory and saved straight back to it. They are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Why is my JPG so much smaller than the PNG?

PNG is lossless: it stores every pixel exactly, which takes a lot of space for photos. JPG uses lossy compression tuned to what the eye notices, so at quality 90 a photo looks the same but is often 3–10 times smaller.

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG can’t store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. To keep transparency and still get a smaller file, convert the PNG to WebP with the image converter.

Should I convert screenshots and logos?

Usually not. Text and sharp edges can look slightly blurred in JPG. PNG, or lossless optimisation with the image compressor, is better for those.

Can I process many images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like, up to 50 MB each and 500 MB in total. Each one gets its own result and download link, and “Download all” saves them together as a ZIP file.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Because all the work happens on your own device, there are no servers to pay for.
